We utilized institutional logics as a theoretical lens and focused on the logics of IT professionalism, medical professionalism and managerialism. According to this lens, we identified three foci of interests. In addition, we utilized the institutional level as an analytical dimension. Healthcare systems face a high level of institutional complexity due to prescriptions from multiple institutional logics (Greewood et al., 2011). As a consequence, the conceptual framework provided by institutional logics scholarship has proved fruitful to logic within law firms. Scott et al. Even if co-optation is performed to protect the home logic, the co-opted elements ultimately change it. Clinical managers play a crucial role in securing the implementation and sustainability of information technology (IT) innovation in health care. Yet, not all clinical managers are willing and able to support IT innovation, particularly when the institutional logics of an IT innovation challenge their professional practice.
